Raised in Springerville, AZ and Danville, IN, Joey found himself constantly listening to music. After a small punk show in a friends basement he decided to pick up a guitar and play. Upon graduating high school he headed off to Musicians Institute in Los Angeles California where he recieved his degree in Guitar Performance. There he studied under great artists such as Dale Turner, Jamie Findlay, and Sid Jacobs.
Soon after graduating from MI he moved to Boston in order to begin studies at Berklee College of Music. There he received his Bachelors and had the privilege to study with Bret Willmott, Julien Kasper, Chris Buono, David Fiuczynski, and other phenomenal artists.
Since then he has worked as a freelance guitarist in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, and Indianpolis playing styles that range from hardcore to country to jazz.

Joey is also involved in music Education. He has taught and tutored since the age of 18.
Currently Joey is in the Indianapolis area teaching at R&R Music, as well as playing regularly with Levi Riggs, Southern Bridges, and Of Lions and Men.
